Why local processing matters

The free tier of a typical online PDF service is deliberately narrow: two operations per hour, a watermark stamped over your content, mandatory sign-up, and files retained on their servers. Those limits exist because the work happens on their hardware. Moving the work into your browser removes the cost, and with it the reason to limit you.

It also removes the risk. Contracts, invoices, medical records and identity documents should not be copied onto a stranger's server to have their pages reordered. Here the file is read into memory by your own browser, processed by your own CPU, and written straight to your download folder.

The trade-off is stated openly: browser-side processing is bounded by your device memory, and a few server-side features — notably high-fidelity PDF to Word conversion and OCR of poor scans — cannot be reproduced locally. This site does not list features it cannot actually deliver.

Questions

Are the tools really free?
Yes. There is no premium tier, no operation counter and no watermark. Running the site costs almost nothing because there are no servers processing your files, so there is nothing to paywall. Advertising covers the running costs.
How can I be sure my file is not uploaded?
Open the Network tab in your browser developer tools before processing a file. Every request is visible there. You will see the page, the stylesheet, the scripts and nothing else. No request contains your document.
Why do other sites limit free usage?
Because they pay for servers and bandwidth for every file. Local processing has neither cost, which is why these tools have no quota.
Do the tools work offline?
Once a page has loaded, the processing itself needs no network. The libraries are served from this site rather than an external CDN, so a flaky connection does not break a job in progress.
What is on the roadmap?
PDF compression, form filling and flattening, and visual page reordering. They ship when they are genuinely better than the alternatives, not before.
